Aruni Y

Aruni has become the most favoured photographer for Sri Lanka Medical and dental association-UK(SLMDA-UK) after she very successfully covered our events from 2016. Her photographic documentation of the SLMDA concert 2016 held in Essex was a revelation as she had captured the varied cultural items in the most fascinating manner. The best was how she captured the very talented Bharatha natyam dancers in their dazzling colour and graceful poses while capturing the Kandyan dancers with their characteristic whim, vigour and vitality!! The ‘Kasthiram(jumps)’ with flowing costumes were captured in such realism that one could imagine the background drum beats! Aruni’s photographs have the feminine sensitivity and if looked carefully one can see that these were taken after waiting patiently for the most crucial moment to give the greatest impact and these are not accidental shots by clicking the camera at random. The photographs that she took of our public show- ‘Ridi dedunu’ had captured the spirit of the evening specially the reactions and facial expressions of the audience. Also the back stage shots showed the anticipation and mixed emotions of the artists just before stepping on to the stage. The instrumentalists taken from different angles using light and dark playing on them were effective. I appreciate her black and white photographs immensely, once again the series of photographs of the Bharatha natyam dancers were poetic and utterly graceful. I would like to see Aruni developing as a wedding photographer as her feminine sensitivity will help to capture the texture and richness of fabrics and flowers that play a great part in weddings. Also I am sure she will be able to capture the love and tenderness between the couple most effectively.

I wish Aruni a great future as a professional photographer which she richly deserves and also I have already reserved for our next SLMDA dance in May 2019!!

Aruni is incredibly talented and has taken the time to master and learn advanced techniques to further enhance the quality of her photography. The combination of her inherent skills and techniques brings out the best in the imagery and achieved most interesting photographs.

Aruni is very talented and has photographed a number of very Special occasions ranging from my wedding, baby shower through to the first pictures of my little one. I would highly recommend her photography alongside her bubbly personality to make you feel at ease throughout. Thank you Aruni for all the fab photos!!
